Fish face sounds like a cruel thing to call someone, but in Spain it can actually be a good thing. If someone has a Cara de pez (fish face) it means they’re impossible to read (the English equivalent would be a pokerface). When you think about it, it makes sense; fish do have pretty vacant expressions. So the next time you find yourself in a high-stakes card game where bluffing is key (the traditional Spanish game Mus comes to mind) don’t forget to think like a fish!
